Fort Lauderdale, FL
Restaurateur Wilfrid “Wolfie” Cohen came to Miami Beach in the 1940s and opened a string of deli-style restaurants. In 1957 that catered to retirees and snowbirds searching for platters of lox and overstuffed pastrami sandwiches served in Jewish delis in New York. These classic restaurants were so popular, people used to line-up around the block to get into Wolfie’s.
