The Stash Café is now an integral part of the foundations of Old Montreal. Although it was founded by Stanislaw Pruszynski in 1972 under the nickname Stash, it has been proudly run by women of Polish origin since 1978.
What was initially just a flea market where artists and artisans of the time gathered quickly became successful. The restaurant therefore opened its doors at 461 rue St-Sulpice, in the shadow of the Notre-Dame Basilica.
In 1992, the Stash Café had to relocate following a major fire which destroyed the adjacent building. Today located on Saint-Paul Street, the first of the former colony that was Montreal, it combines tradition and modernity, while remaining faithful to the secrets of Polish cuisine. For fifty years, it has been an establishment where music, comforting food and a family atmosphere have charmed the hearts of Montrealers and tourists alike.
